Almost everyone can relate to losing an important item. Therefore, if you’ve lost your Oak Pensions PIN and need it back urgently for official use, here is a step-by-step guide for you on how to recover it as soon as possible.

In this article, we’ll take you through the following:

  • What is a Pension Identification Number (PIN)?

  • Why is a Pension Identification Number (PIN) important?

  • What should you do when you lose your PIN?

  • How to recover your Oak Pension PIN

Let’s begin.

What is a Pension Identification Number (PIN)?

The RSA Personal Identification Number is automatically assigned to you as soon as you register to open a Retirement Savings Account (RSA).

This is the new model under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). PINs have a 12-digit format, with PEN being the first digit. For example, PENXXXXXXXXXXXX.

Why is a Pension Identification Number (PIN) Important?

You might be wondering why your RSA PIN is important. Here are the following reasons why it is important:

  • It is unique. This means that no one else has the exact same digits you have been assigned.

  • You will be required to share it with your Pension Fund Administrator (PFA) when you need an issue resolved. This means that if you need a complaint resolved urgently, your PFA will request you to share your RSA PIN. And if you cannot provide it, it will be difficult for you to have your issue resolved.

  • Also, you will need to provide this PIN when you need to transfer your RSA to another PFA.

What should you do when you lose your PIN?

First of all, don’t panic. It is not the end of the world. Then, know that you will have to contact your PFA stating that you have lost your PIN.
